The Salt River masjid which recently received a complaint over the athaan has reiterated calls for the noise nuisance by law to be amended to exclude places of worship. Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill Lewis says, as per City by-laws, only unregistered and unzoned places of worship will suffer consequences of noise complaints, adding that staff will begin policy training this afternoon. The masjid says the Standing Operating Procedure currently in place, is simply not enough.
